Meet The Team

Caroline Lavigne

Business Owner

I was born French-Canadian in Montreal, Quebec. I have lived in the United States since 2012, after graduating from the University of Montreal with a degree in Biology.

My first Veterinarian Technician position was in 2007, and it convinced me to pledge healing animals in need whenever possible. I fostered hundreds of animals, as well as volunteered in shelters, and even started a Catch & Release program with one of the many clinics I have worked at in Montreal.

After 14 years of working as a Veterinarian Nurse, I started a position as a Veterinarian Manager in a local rescue.

I finally decided to work for myself and started WNC Pet Care in 2017, after caring for many pets as a side job.

My veterinarian knowledge has allowed me to provide a superior approach to this field. Our staff are all CPR Pet Certified, and they undergo training for basic procedures, such as nail trimming, injections and more.

I couldn't be more grateful for all of our client's trust with their beloved pets. I am, and always will be, taking care of animals as my own, and I share this important business motto with my team.

Amanda Burk

Business Manager
Professional Pet Sitter

I graduated in 2011 from the University of Southern Indiana, with a bachelor’s degree in Individual Studies (with an emphasis in Nutrition) and  minors in Marketing and Business. In 2010, I graduated from massage therapy school. I’m also a Certified Transformational Life Coach, Bowen Therapy Practitioner, and hold a 200 hour RYT.

Although my career path has led me to work mainly with people, I’ve spent my free time caring for our furry friends. I grew up on a small farm in southern Missouri. It was there that I learned to treasure our four legged family members.

I started rescuing animals in 2004. In 2013, my husband and I started a small domestic cat rescue on our property in southern Illinois.

I’m truly honored to be a part of such an amazing community! I’m looking forward to helping care for your furry family members!

Born in Dallas, Texas but a native to North Carolina since I was 2 years old, I have been exploring the great outdoors since early childhood. I spent many times hiking with my German Shepard of 12 years, and also venturing the Blue Ridge Parkway with my family.

I graduated from Enka High School with high honors, and went on to obtain an Associate in Arts at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in May of 2017. After that, I was an honors student at Capella University, where I majored in Education and minored in Psychology, until the birth of my son in December of 2018.

I am so grateful that my sweet boy got to spend time with my German Shepherd, Jada, before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

I have always felt that animals speak to us. Coming from Native American descent, I feel an immense connection when out in nature.

Ever since my dog saved my life when I received a concussion several years ago, I knew that our furmily members possessed a love that can't be put into words! I want to give that same love back to the world, in honor of my sweet Jada. I will do just that for your precious fur babies!

Following my dream of a new life, in June of 2021 I moved to Asheville with my partner, Coral, and our German Shepherd, Jada.

I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Growing up I had aspirations of becoming an anesthesiologist and following the family tradition of working in the medical field.

I graduated from Homestead High School in just six semesters, and immediately began planning my career path. It was then that I picked up a simple gig as a dog bather and kennel worker, to make ends meet while going through pre-med. This experience opened my eyes to the world of K9 care and training.

After almost two years, I made the decision to leave medicine behind me and go all in on this newfound passion. I sent myself to Grand Rapids, Michigan and enrolled in Paragon School of Pet Grooming, where I became certified to groom.

Eventually I moved on to Pet Containment, and worked as the technician and trainer for The Invisible Fence Company. In the years since, I have worked with thousands of people and their furry companions in daycare settings, kennels, off-leash dog bars, private grooming & training, as well as general health and wellness advising. In the near future, I intend on furthering my education in K9 training and psychology.

Born in Idaho but having grown up in Raleigh, I call North Carolina home. I initially pursued a Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Care, but the pandemic caused me to make the decision to walk away from college.

I have always had a love for animals, and I enjoy getting to meet new pups and cats every day I am at work! When I am not helping with fur babies, I also work for a local bakery in Asheville.

I enjoy spending time with my dog (Nala, as pictured above) and my beautiful wife. We love exploring the mountains, and you can oftentimes find me tackling the whitewater in my kayak!

I attended the University of North Carolina- Charlotte, and specialized in art. I have grown up in North Carolina, and I have always loved working with and being around animals!

I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at numerous local animal shelters, and I held an internship where I job shadowed at a veterinarian office as well.

I have always wanted to pursue a path where I could work with animals, and this job has made that dream come true for me!

I love being creative in my free time. I also enjoy spending time with my two dogs, Cletus and Butter. I think it is important to be the voice for the ones who don't have one.
